Tie Plates

Tie Plates

If you choose to lay your own track, you'll need to install tie plates under the track at every tie. Tie plates keep the aluminum track from contacting the copper-based chemicals that are present in pressure-treated lumber. Otherwise, your track will corrode wherever the two dissimilar metals touch.

Our plastic tie plates have other advantages, too. They allow expansion and contraction of the aluminum track due to heat and cold. This helps keep your track screws tight, reducing maintenance. Tie plates also have a dampening effect on sound transmission.

Tie plates are injection-molded from high-impact, UV-resistant polypropylene. They have pre-formed, angled holes for #8 stainless steel screws (sold separately). It seems like a little thing, but our angled screw holes help a lot to make your installation much easier and enjoyable.

You'll need TWO tie plates for every ONE tie.
